      Short services were held at the grave for David I. Guthrie of Big Piney, Wyo., who was instantly killed in an automobile accident near his home Wednesday night, October 23. Burial was in Superior's Evergreen Cemetery and Rev. W. A. Stockwell was in charge of the services.

      David Ingalls (sic) Guthrie was born November 4, 1874, at Ayr, Ontario, Canada, coming to Superior, Neb., with his parents in June 1878. Here he attended the public schools until he went to his father's mill to learn the trade of a miller, and this became his trade, he being rated as a first class head miller.

      From here he moved to Geneva, Neb., where he became associated with his father in the Geneva mills, and it was here that he met and married Elsie Jayne, in 1894. she preceding him in death in 1915.

      In 1896 he took a position as general manager of a large milling company in Monterey, Old Mexico, living there three years and returning home in 1899. Later he went to Seattle, Wash., with a large milling company there and from there he returned home to go into partnership with his father in Guthrie & Co's. mill, which company later became the Southern Nebraska Power Company.

      He continued his work until 1922 when he bought a cattle ranch near Big Piney, Wyo., and here he resided until his death which occurred October 23, 1940.

      He leaves to mourn his loss, a daughter, Mrs. DeVee King and her son, Robert King of Kansas City, Mo.; his two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Johnston and Mrs. Ella Shaw of Superior, Neb., and many friends. - Superior Express.
