• Notes

  McKERACHER, Mat James Matthew descendant of two local pioneer families, died at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Friday, August 1, 1986. Mat was born in Galt, September 7, 1893, the youngest of Donald McKaracher and Marion Dickson. Moved to Preston in 1901 and had resided at 1270 Duke Street, for the past 81 years. Mr. McKeracher had been active in Knox's Preston Presbyterian Church, serving as Sunday School Secretary, from 1907-1956 and a Secretary of the Board of Managers, for 11 years. Mr. McKeracher had also been Secretary of the Conservative Club of Preston and of the Preston Crokinole Club for 50 years. He had worked for many years at the Bernhardt Hardware Store and retired from his Insurance Agency, in 1981. Mr. McKeracher was predeceased by his brothers, Duncan, Soutar and Sandy and sister, Jean. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and was the much loved friend of John Clare and Michael Cahill. Memorial service will be held at Knox's Preston Presbyterian Church, Friday, August 8, 1986, at 11 a.m. Arrangements by The Barthel-Stager Funeral Home.
