Otto Gix dies Wednesday AM. Had been ill ten weeks from jaundice. Veteran tailor of Petoskey and widely known in Elkdom, And Masonic Circles of State. Otto Gix, for thirty years one of the best known tailors in Petoskey and Northern Michigan, died at Lockwood Hospital Wednesday morning from Jaundice, from which he had been suffering for ten weeks. He was sixty-two years old September 28, last. Mr. Gix was an active member of both Masons, and Elks and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Gix was born at New Dundee ON. and came with his family to Petoskey thirty-four years ago. He spent four at harbor Springs and then located permanently in Petoskey. He was a tailor by trade and one of the oldest in point of residence in Petoskey. His aged mother resides in Galt, ON. and in a letter received Wednesday, she said four days ago she dreamed that he came to her bedside and talked with her. She expressed her happiness at seeing him. The same day Mr. Gix thought continuously of his aged mother, who is in very poor health and made arrangements for her care and for her funeral when she should pass away. Mr. Gix was a member of Durand Lodge, No. 344, F &A. M, Emmet Chapter, No. 104 R. A. Petoskey Council No 52, R. & S. M., and Ivanhoe Commandery No 36, K. T., and was a past eminent Commander of the latter, and Saladin Temple A.O.O.N.M.S. of Grand Rapids. was also a member of Petoskey Lodge, No 629, B.P.O. Elks. Besides his widow, he leaves one daughter, Miss Ida Gix, of this city, one son Ralph Gix, of Flint,, his aged mother at Galt, ON. two brothers Fred Gix of Detroit, and Oscar Gix of Toronto, and two sisters, Mrs. Gable, who resides in the west, and Mrs. Hess, of Detroit. Ivanhoe Commandery, No. 35, K.T., will have charge of the funeral, which will be held at 10am Saturday at the Presbyterian Church. Durand Lodge, No. 344, F. &A.M., and Petoskey Lodge No. 629 B.P.O. Elks, will attend. Reverend P. B. Ferris will assist at the service. (Buried block #55, Lot 12, S 1/2 Greenwood Cem.
