Notes |
- John emigrated from Germany in the early 1880's, bringing his family over later. John worked in many parts of Canada and USA, before settling down in Lethbridge area on July 2 1888. One of his first jobs was working for A.R.&I. Co., until he took up homesteading in 1890 in the West Lethbridge area. More commonly known in the early years as "In The Bend." Their first house on the homestead was destroyed by fire on New Years Day. The next house was built partly of stone. During the floods of the 1900's the neidig house was a safe haven to many a neighbor that lived along the river.
On December26,1913 John and Dorothy Neidig celebrated their Golden Wedding Aniversary. John Passed away in may 1914, and his wife Dorothy remained in the Lethbridge area until her death in June 1931. Homestead land is now part of the University of lethbridge.
