Notes |
- Dilman G. Moyer, "son of Jacob L. and Barbara (Gehman) Moyer, was born in Clinton Township, Lincoln County, Ontario, near Campden, December 18th, 1852. On April 9th, 1876, he was married to Susannah, daughter of Jacob Y. and Nancy (Brubacher) Shantz. She was born March 25th, 1856, and died August 29th, 1881. In 1882 he was again married to Margaret, daughter of Lawrence and Catharine (Bushey) Hipple. She was born August 6th, 1856. After Mr. Moyer's marriage he resided on his father's old homestead where he was engaged in farming. On April 3rd, 1878, they moved to Waterloo County, and settled on the old 'Alderson Farm' near Bridgeport, Ontario, where he resided until October, 1885, when he moved on the 'Peter Erb, Jr. Farm' about a mile north of Bridgeport where he still resides. This place he purchased in March 1886. His family consists of nine children, two of whom were born unto him and his first wife."
Eby, Ezra E. (1895). Dilman reported that he removed the fence that surrounded the small cemetery on his property in Waterloo. After the removal of the fence the wooden crosses disappearred. It is remembered that wooden crosses existed up until 1910 at least.
