Notes |
- Mrs. Mary Roeder
There passed away at the home of her son, Conrad J. Roeder, North Easthope, on Tuesday, February 18th, Mrs. Mary Roeder, wife of the late Conrad Roeder, at the age of 87 years and 4 months. Mrs. Roeder was born at Erbsville, Waterloo County, on September 26th, 1842. On July 1861, she was united in wedlock with Conrad Roeder who died in 1915. On July 7th, 1911 they celebrated their golden wedding. Nine children, four sons and five daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Roeder. Two daughters, Sybilla and Mrs. Nancy Hohl, predeceased their parents in death. The funeral was held from her late residence on Saturday afternoon, February 22nd, thence to Alles Lutheran church. Rev. Kurt Sobbe, of the North Easthope parish and Rev. Otto Stockman, of Sebastopol, were the officiating clergyman. Mrs. Roeder is survived by seven children: Mrs. Henry Schmidt, Millbank, John Roeder, California, Conrad J.Roeder, North Easthope, Rev. Austin H. Roeder, Mrs. Henry Bock and Herbert Roeder, all of Rochester, N. Y., and Miss Clara Roeder, North Easthope, twelve grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Pierson, Winnipeg, Man., and Mrs. Henry Spahr, Waterloo. The pallbearers were six grandsons of the late Mrs. Roeder, Clayton, Erhardt, Albert and Elmer Roeder, Nelson Doering and Edward Krayaefski. The beautiful floral tributes showed the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near. The late Mr. and Mrs. Roeder were one of the early settlers of North Easthope and among the founders of Alles Lutheran Church, North Easthope. Our sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved family in their loss of a kind and loving mother, sister and grandmother.
