Notes |
- Isaac Master, "the eldest son, was born March 19th, 1835. His boyhood days were spent on his father's farm. His early opportunity for the acquisition of learning being very limited, his attainments in this particular were confined to the common branches of an education taught in our county schools, limited to those months in the winter when the duties on the farm were not so pressing. He, however, acquired the habit of improving every leisure moment during the more busy season of the year, and though the duties of farm life kept him from school, it did not keep him from his books. After arriving at the age of maturity he chose farming as the calling of his life and settled several miles west of New Dundee on the farm now in possession of his son. Here he resided until October, 1891, when he moved to Berlin. Mr. Master having his mind well schooled and disciplined in the knowledge of all our political institutions in the varied systems which prevail under the constitutions and legislation of the different provinces of our Dominion, early identified himself with the Liberal or Reform party and has up to the present remained faithful to the noble principles advocated by the Liberal Government. At the general Convention held at Doon some time in February, 1877, for the purpose of selecting a candidate to represent the S. R. of the county of Waterloo in the provincial government, Mr. Master was unanimously chosen as the standard bearer of the Reform party and on March 5th, 1877, he was elected member of the Provincial Parliament by a handsome majority. He was the representative in the Local House for the S. R. of this county until October, 1891, when he was appointed registrar for the county of Waterloo. He is married to Lydia Ann, daughter of Samuel and Nancy (Ziegler) Fried. To them was born a family of ten children"

ISAAK MASTER
The Registrar of Waterloo County died on Thursday morning at 11a.m. at his residence on Ahrens Street. His health had not been satisfactory for several years, and for 2 months, he had been seriously ill and wasn't able to leave the house. His burial took place on Saturday in Blenheim, after a funeral service had been held in Trinity Church.
The deceased was born on March 19, 1835 in Wilmot, where he attended a country school, and acquired more than satisfactory education through diligent application to his books. He was interested in public works and took part in politics. He was a member of the Liberal party. After he had served his township for several years as a councillor and deputy reeve, he was elected the representative for South Waterloo to the provincial legislature in 1877 and an additional 2 times. In October 1893, he was named Registrar and moved to Berlin. Up until then, he had lived on his farm, west of New Dundee. He was a friendly, agreeable man, and had many friends.
