- Memorable Manitobans: Norman George Heimbecker (1879-1963)
Grain merchant.
Born at Waterloo, Ontario on 19 November 1879, son of Frederick Heimbecker and Rosina Ziegler, he came to Winnipeg in 1905. Four years later, he partnered with William Parrish in establishing the grain firm of Parrish & Heimbecker. At the time of his death, he was its Chairman. On 26 March 1907, he married Caroline Drepel (c1883-1970) at Hanover, Ontario. They had one son, Lloyd Friedrich Heimbecker (1908-1971). He was a member of the Winnipeg Grain Exchange, Motor Country Club, and Good Fellowship Club. He died at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital on 4 June 1963 and was buried in the family plot at Hanover, Ontario.
