- High, Norman H., son of Alfred and Alda (Culp) High, was born on June 15, 1913; died of cancer at Kitchener, Ont., Dec. 4, 1974; aged 61 y. He was married to Eleanor Young, who survives. Also surviving are one son (Ferriss), 4 daughters (Susan - Mrs. Peter Grant, Margaret - Mrs. David Butt, Emily - Mrs. Bruce Hunsberger, and Nancy), 3 grandchildren, and 3 brothers (Isaac, Daniel, and Alfred). He was a member of the Rockway Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at First Mennonite Church, Vineland, followed by interment of ashes in the family cemetery. Memorial service was held at the Theatre of Arts, University of Waterloo, Dec. 15.

NATIVE OF LOUTH ROSE TO HIGH UNIVERSITY POST
Kitchener - A former Vineland man, Norman H. High, professor and former administrator at the University of Waterloo and the University of Guelph, died here Wednesday, at the age of 61. He had been ill for some months.Born in old Louth Township, he had moved to Vineland at an early age, and attended Beamsville Secondary School and Hamilton Normal School. For four years he taught in a one room school in Pelham.Graduating from Ontario Agricultural College in 1940, and later Cornell University where he obtained his doctorate in Sociology, Dr. High joined the department of economics at OAC in 1946. Five years later he was appointed director of the associate diploma course at Guelph.In 1959, he established the extension department there and became it's first head. During his years at Guelph, he travelled widely in Ontario, speaking at farm meetings all over the province.In 1961, Dr. High was appointed dean of arts at the University of Waterloo. After that six-year term he took a leave to become professor of adult education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in Toronto.In 1971, he was acting president of Conrad Grebel College, University of Waterloo, and the following year, acting chairman of the university's sociology department. At the time of hid death, he was a member of that department.Dr. High is survived by his wife Eleanor; a son, Ferriss in Charlottetown, four daughters, Mrs. David (Margaret) Butt in Kitchener, Mrs. Bruce (Emily) Honsberger in Waterloo, Mrs. Peter (Susan) Grant in Charlottetown, and Nancy, at home; three brothers, Isaac L. in St. Catharines, Daniel H. in Vineland Station, Alfred C. in Jordan and three grandchildren.A memorial service will be held in First Mennonite Church in Vineland at 3: 30 p.m. and another memorial service Dec. 15 in the University of Waterloo Chapel at 3: 15 p.m.Cremation will take place with interment at Vineland Cemetery.
