Notes |
- JACOB BRANDT.
One of Waterloo's well known residents died on Monday at 5 o'clock in the person of Jacob Brandt at his home on Foundry street, aged 51 years 7 months and 26 days. Deceased contracted influenza last fall and never fully recovered from the effects of the disease.
The funeral took place from the late residence on Tuesday morning at nine o'clock to the St. Louis R. C. Church for service, thence to Mount Hope Cemetery for interment.
The late Mr. Brandt was a son of the late Joseph Brandt and was well known in Waterloo, having conducted a barber business here for many years. Four years ago he took charge of the tonsorial parlors in the Fischer Block, King street, where he worked until ill health compelled him to relinquish his work some time ago.
A sorrowing wife, one son and one daughter, survive, also one brother, Henry of Hamilton, and three sisters, Mrs. Herbert McManus of Hamilton, Mrs. Fred White of Galt and Mrs. Adam Hueglin of Kitchener.

BARBER SHOP SOLD.
Mr. Jacob Brandt, who has conducted a barber shop in Waterloo for the past fourteen years, has sold out to Mr. Emil Engel, of Waterloo, an em ploye of Mr. Brandt. The deal took place Tuesday and the new proprietor took possession Wednesday morning. Mr. Brandt has not definitely decided what he will do. Jake's many friends will miss his genial presence very much at the old stand but will be glad to know that he has a worthy successor in Mr. Engel. The new proprietor has been with Mr. Brandt for the past seven years. and during that time has made himself exceedingly popular with the general public. As a tonsorial artist Mr. Engel's ability is too well known to comment on, and the many patrons can rely on receiving the most courteous treatment at his shaving parlor. His many friends will wish him every success.
