Dr. Hoelsche Provided Data For Mutiny on Bounty Article in Spectator
Dr. Herman J. Hoelsche, retired eye specialist and resident United States for many years, died this morning at his home, 21 Augusta street, in his 85th year. He was born in Preston, Ont., and had practised optometry for 45 years in the United States, coming to Hamilton in 1920.
An historian of note, Dr. Hoelsche was much interested in the career of Admiral Bligh, captain of the Bounty, and an ancestor of his wife's. His collection of data regarding Captain Bligh published in the Spectator recently. Dr. Hoelsche leaves mourn besides his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Haddock, whose home is in Buffalo, N.Y. The funeral will take place from the chapel of Blachford & Wray on Friday Afternoon at 4 o'clock and interment will be. made in Hamilton cemetery.
