Originally BIEBER
In the Old Red House on the Brock Road, on the 23rd April 1861, aged 85 years. He was one of the first settlers in the township
-Galt Reporter, May 3, 1861.
-Born in the province of Alsace-Lorraine, on the French-German border. He emigrated to Pennsylvania, then to Toronto in 1827 where he farmed about five years on 100 acres somewhere on what is now Yonge St. In 1832, he came to Puslinch and bought 300 acres, front concession 8, lots 25, 26 and 27. He gave his three grown sons, Peter, Phillip and Nicholas each a farm and a dowry to his daughter, Mary (Mrs. Henry Moatz).
-Information from Our Germans Were Linked Through Puslinch Township by Chris Bowman and B. & B. Woolsey: Johann Peter Bieber (1777-1852) was born in Puberg, Bas-Rhin, France, a shoemaker, first marriage to Maria Margaretha Saemann, who died overseas in 1800, second marriage to Catharine Peter, daughterof Johan Peterand Christina Magdalena Beron. Children of Peterand Maria Bieberwere Margaret (1802-1803); Sophia (b. 1804); Peter (1806-1872); Philip(1809-1846); Nicholas (1811-1812); Nicholas (1813- 1885); Christian (b. 1815); and Margaret (1820-1821).
