    Richber House
    • The Richber-House, an attractive board and an batten structure was built in 1859. Its original owner Peter Schavio, was a labourer who had purchased the land from John Hoffman. It is one of the very few remaining structures of this type in the City.
The home provides an interesting comparison to the Nixon house located at 81 Norman Street. Both are board and batten construction, one-and-a-half stories high, with prominent, slightly pedimented window trim. As a decorative treatment, the individual moulded battens are capped by capitals connected by a repetitively arched facia board on this Mary Street home.
The west, north and south elevations of the Richber house, with the notable exception of a large window at the rear of the south side are recognized as a Heritage Landmark.1a
