  JOHN KAY, jeweler; born Stranraer, Scotland Feb 17 1850 son of John and Margaret (Cavan) Kay, came to Canada 1851; educated in public schools in Galt, Ont. m. at Jackson, Mich. 1879 Carrie Garlick; 3 children: Mildred, Wallace and Wilbur. Lived in NYC 1870-1874; was connected with jewelery business in Indianapolis 1874-1881. Came to Detroit 1881 and became manager of Roehm and Wright; withdrew from company 1907 and organized firm of John Kay and Co. Republican, Presbyterian, Residence: Pasadena Apartments.
