Notes |
- BATTLER, Clifford Morley - Sept. 25th, 1925 - Aug. 14th, 2006. Today, August 14th, 2006, our Dad and Poppa opened his last Nevada ticket and he hit the jackpot, Dad is homeward bound. No longer with us in body, he will be forever in our hearts and memories. Our Dad and Poppa told us often over the years that he was a millionaire many times over. When we asked him why, he would answer I have eight children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are all healthy and here, what more could a man ask for? This is the legacy he left to each one of us UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.Much loved dad to Joan, Karen (Rick) Clayfield, Douglas (Sharon), Russell (Debbie), Ronald, Judy (Daniel) Yearwood, Thomas (Toni) and John (Peggy). Poppa to 20 grandchildren and their spouses, each who have wonderful memories of their Poppa. Great-Poppa to 22 great grandchildren who brought him so much joy. Dad, each one of us had our special time with you to say our goodbyes, and to let you know how much you are loved. We all, Poppa, will celebrate the memories made and the times we cherish with a man who always provided unconditional love. We always knew, Poppa, that what you wanted the most, was the best for each and every one of us. This truth will live in our hearts forever.Clifford will be missed by his two sisters, Hazel Knight of Saginaw, Michigan, Elaine (Jack) Wilfong and brother-in-law, Gordon Witmer.Predeceased by his wife, Margaret Schedewitz, Feb. 28th, 2004. Clifford was the son of the late Morley Battler and Elfelda Becker; brother, of the late Eva Witmer.Clifford had been employed with the City of Kitchener for 21 years in the Cemetery Division until his retirement in 1991.Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories of Clifford with his family at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 621 King St. W. Kitchener on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Michael Chow officiating. Donations may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital as expressions of sympathy through the funeral home or on line at www.ratzbechtelfuneralhome.comIf there be any truer measure of a man than by what he does, it must be by what he gives and Poppa you gave us your all.God gave us memories that we might have roses in December.
