______________________
Death of an Old Galtonian - We regret to have observed in the Mail of Thursday the announcement of the death of an old friend and resident of this town, Mr. Jas. J. Thompson. His death is ascribed to an accident, but no details are given. Mr. Thompson at one time occupied a prominent position here as proprietor of the Woollen factory now carried on by Messrs. Ellis & Godfrey. At that time he was a man of comparative wealth, but the unfortunate establishment of a "Butterine" factory in Hamilton involved him so seriously, that ultimate ruin was the result. Mr. Thompson removed from here to Toronto, and some time after had charge of a small Woollen Mill at Welland. His many friends here will very much regret the intelligence of his death.
Later - We learn that for some time Mr. Thompson has held the position of agent of the Exhaust Ventilator Company of Chicago, and while examining a ventilator at Wilby & Co's Mills, at Weston, he slipped and fell from the roof, receiving such severe injuries as to cause his death shortly after.
