- DEATH OF MR. ROBT. THOMSON
Mr. Robt. Thomson, another of the old settlers of North Dumfries, passed away on Wednesday evening last, in the 86th year of his age. The deceased came to this country from Berwirkshire, Scotland, in 1832 and took up land in what was then an almost unbroken forest. Some years since he removed to Galt and spent the remainder of his days in ease and comfort. Mr. Thomson was of a quiet, unassuming disposition and owing to infirmities, resulting from an accident, he took no active part in public matters. He was, however, an ardent Liberal and never failed to cast his ballot at election times for the candidate of his party. The surviving family consists of George of Bright, John of Iowa, Robert of Neepawa, Man. and Mrs. ??? Ayton, Ont. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon and was attended by a large concourse of friends and relatives.
