- OBITUARY
Mrs. Wendel Sararas, a respected resident of this community passed to her eternal rest, Saturday morning, January 21st, at the ripe old age of ninety years and six months, less one day. Mrs. Sararas came from County Huron, Ont., in the spring of 1866 with her husband and family. They settled in the Two Creeks district where she devoted herself to husband and family and when the former died seventeen years ago, she continued to operate the farm with the help of her sons until a year ago when she moved into Virden and resided here until her death. Throughout her long life she was devoted to her home and family. A quiet, kindly woman, she was esteemed by all who knew her and sincerely loved by these most closely associated with her. A member of the Presbyterian church until union, she was a consistent christian.
She is survived by seven sons: Eli, Arrow River; Nathaniel, Joseph and Simon, Two Creeks; Noah and David, Virden, and two. daughters, Mrs. Robert Busby, of Minneapolis. and Mrs. Robert Gardiner, Virden; also 32 grand-children and 17 great-grandchildren. The sympathy of the community will be extended to them in their loneliness and sorrow.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the family home, the service being conducted by Rev. D. H. Telfer, of St. Paul's United church. The remains were laid to rest in Virden cemetery. [actually buried in the Bennet cemetery]
