  MAYER, (Gingerich) Ruth - Passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, on Friday, April 24, 2009 at her residence Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Ruth was formerly of Baden and was born 90 years ago in Wilmot Township. She was the daughter of the late Moses and Magdalene (Gerber) Gingerich. Beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Mayer who predeceased her October 23, 1985. Loving mother of Don Mayer, Joe and wife Barb Mayer all of New Hamburg and Sharon and husband David Horne of Waterloo. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Jeff and wife Katie, Andrea and husband Trevor, Ryan and Becky. Dear sister of Helena Zehr of New Hamburg and sister-in-law of Viola Gingerich of New Hamburg. Ruth was predeceased by sister Elmina and husband Noah Brenneman, brothers Bill Gingerich and Joe and wife Ruth Gingerich. Ruth was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden. Ruth was a "Foster Mother" to many boys and also a homemaker for the Canadian Red Cross for many years. Ruth volunteered at Nithview Home and the New Hamburg Thrift Store. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron St., New Hamburg today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 1: 00 p.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Church with Pastor Ilene Bergen, Pastor Myrna Miller Dyck and Pastor Amsey Martin officiating. Interment to follow in Steinmann Mennonite Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Nithview Community Auxiliary. A special thank you to all the staff at Nithview Community for loving and compassionate care given to mom while she was a resident.
