- STAEBLER, Greta (nee Schafer) - Greta died peacefully at the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on February, 16, 2007 after a long active life. She was much loved by her daughters Miriam Admans (Gerald) of London and Carolyn Shoup of Waterloo. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Carl E. Staebler, her only sister, Gertrude, and her son-in-law Bertrand Shoup. Special grandmother to Brian and Wendy Admans of Oakville and Scott and Tania Admans of London. Loving great grandma to Matthew, Shelby, Zachary and Aliah. Aunt to Marilyn, Diane and Dwight Zeller. Greta was born April 4, 1907, of Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. She has lived her entire life in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. After schooling at KCI, she secured employment at Mutual Life where she worked for 13 years. She lived a very full and rewarding life. Some of the major events in this wonderful journey included life-long membership at Zion United Church. She was the first woman elder at Zion, Past President of the Kitchener Home and School Council, founding member of Phi Sigma Alpha Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Past President of the Kitchener YWCA, and Past President of the former Parkwood Manor Senior Citizen Home. A funeral service will take place at Zion United Church, 32 Weber St. W., Kitchener on Saturday, February 24 at 11 a.m. The Rev. J.D. Kellough officiating. The family will receive friends for a reception in the church hall following the service to continue to celebrate Greta's Life. Private interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Kitchener. Special thanks to the staff at Terrace on the Square and the nurses and staff on the 5th floor at Grand River Hospital.
