    • JOHN ALLEN (AL) SHERRY 1918 - 2006 Passed away peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Sherry (2001). Loving father of Diane and son-in-law Rick McBay and father-in-law of Susan Sherry. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Erica and Tracy McBay and Leah and Christopher Sherry, and great-granddaughter Lily Sherry. Brother of Jean Ashmore, Petrolia. Also survived by his nieces and a nephew. Predeceased by his son Ron (2000), and brother-in-law Ralph Ashmore. Al will also be missed by his many friends at Emmanuel Village. In his early years Al was a motorcycle enthusiast and made frequent trips back to his home in Belleville. After serving in the Navy in the Second World War he became a longtime resident of Waterloo and was an avid HAM radio operator using the call letters VE3 ENK. In his later years Al became a resident of the Emmanuel Village and spent many an hour schooling his new friends in the finer points of billiards. His other favorite pastime was to settle in to the soft arm chairs in the main lounge for a quick nap in the sunshine. Friends are invited to share their memories of Al with his family during visitation at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday, June 29, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, June 30, at 11 a.m. A reception will be held in the fireside room of the Funeral Home immediately following the service.A special thank you is extended to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital - 5th floor, for their care and compassion. In Al's memory, donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation or a charity of one's choice and can be arranged by calling the funeral home.
