Notes - DOUGLAS, John MacDonald (Don), B.Eng., MSc., P.Eng. - On Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, at 88 years of age. Deeply mourned by his loving and beloved family; his wife of 64 years, Lucille (Robertson); daughter, Jill and best friend, Fraser Cooper; three grandchildren, Linda and her husband Dr. Kier MacMillan of Victoria, B.C., Douglas Wynn and his wife Karen of Madison, Wisc. and Christie Wynn of Waterdown, Ont.; two great-grandchildren, Breagh and Brin MacMillan; also brother, Bill and his wife Yvette of Fakenham, England. Don grew up in Saskatchewan, graduating from the University of Saskatchewan and McGill University; was an officer in the RCAF in the Second World War, during which he and Lucille were married and spent 17 years in the mining industry in British Columbia and the far north before coming to Galt in 1963, where he was employed by Babcock and Wilcox Canada Ltd., the last 12 years as President and Chairman of the Board. He acted as a consultant to the nuclear industry for eight years before retiring. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Cancer Society, United Way of Cambridge, the University of Waterloo, the Royal Ontario Museum and St. Luke's Foundation. He was a member of the choir of First United Church for more than 20 years and a member of the Galt Country Club for more than 40 years. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at Coutts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge (519) 621-1650 on Saturday, August 5, 2006 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. If desired, as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation. www.couttsfuneralhome.com
