- MURRAY, Edward A. - Edward Anthony Murray, age 83, of Charles St., Stratford, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Stratford General Hospital. He was born in Cambridge (Galt), son of the late Edward and Stella Murray. Mr. Murray served with the Royal Canadian Air Force overseas during the Second World War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree 1431 and the 4th degree Justice J. M. King Assembly. He was a Past Grand Knight and Past District Deputy. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Stratford Branch No. 8. Ed had been employed at the Stratford Beacon Herald for 34 years in the Display Advertising department. He had also served on the Separate School Board for many years. Beloved husband of the former H. Audrey Marshall whom he married September 13, 1947. Loving father of Susan Thibeault and husband Richard, Linda Murray and husband David Mundy, Gerard Murray. Dear grandfather of Jeremy, Christy, Tanya and Brendan, and great-grandfather of Rylea. Brother of Pat Murray and wife Barb, John Murray and wife Helen, Theresa Mycyk. Brother-in-law of Carl Marshall, Walt Taylor, Harry Merrall. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Helene Werstine and husband Jack, Catharine Hugo and husband Gerald, Joyce Taylor, Madeline Merrall. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home , 430 Huron St., Stratford on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus will hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Thursday at 6: 30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Alzheimer's Society or the St. Vincent de Paul Society through the funeral home.1a
