- SWAN, John 'Jack' - Peacefully, at the Village of Winston Park, on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, a longtime resident of Ayr, in his 91st year. Jack was a longtime Postmaster in Ayr, he was of Knox United Church, Ayr, Cambridge Lodge #188 I.O.O.F for 50 years, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #530, Waterloo, and a life member of Ayr Curling Club. He served overseas during the Second World War with the Canadian Army. Jack was a sports enthusiast as a former player and fan. Beloved husband of the late Phillis (1990); dear companion to Doretha Guthrie of Cambridge; also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews. Friends may call at the Ayr Chapel , Wm. Kipp Funeral Home , 183 Northumberland St. Ayr on Saturday 1-2 p.m. Funeral Service to follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Lucy Graves of Winston Park officiating. Interment Ayr Cemetery. In Jack's memory, donations to Knox United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
