    • KOEBEL, Francis William "Frank" - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Thursday, October 23, 2008, in his 86th year. Born in 1923 in Linwood, Ontario to the late Alexander Koebel and Helen Forwell. Beloved husband and best friend of Margaret Koebel (nee Hug) for 66 years. Cherished father of Reg Koebel (Lynn), Ron Koebel (Dianna), Linda Koebel, and Judy McLachlan (Bill). Proud grandfather of Mark Koebel (Andrea), Michael Koebel (Sarah), Laurie Voisin, Barbara Taylor (Brian), Paul Koebel (Mary), Geoffrey Hook (Dawn) and Rob McFee. Great-grandfather of 17. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Mattiussi and his large extended family. Predeceased by his siblings, Clarence, Katherine, Elmer, Genevieve and Corita; his daughter, Helen in infancy (1953); and infant grandson, John (1977) and grandson, David (2006). Frank served his country in the Second World War from 1944-1946 in the UK and Continental Europe as part of the Highland Light Infantry. He will be fondly remembered as a skilled outdoorsman, history buff, music lover and avid collector. A private time of remembrance will take place. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the Westmount Funeral Chapel , 519-743-8900.
