- John Schwass Dies At His Home In Centreville. Was Charter Member of St. Peter's. Church.
Johann Heinrich Christian Schwass, a retired farmer of Centreville, well known throughout the county, died on Friday afternoon.
He was born in Hinzenhagen, Meckkeburg-Schweinr, Germany on the 5th day of July, 1830. In 1849 he came to Canada and settled in Centreville, where he has since resided. In 1852 he was married to Miss Hanna Fridericka Sophia Pasenow, by Pastor Wuster Preston. He had been betrothed to his bride in the Fatherland, before he came to this country, and had his bride come to this country in the company with his father.
In 1852 he was one of the charter members, who organized St. Peter's Ev. Luth. Church and has been a member ever since. On the 20th of June, 1910, his died, since which time he shared his home with his daughter, Mrs. Herman Affeldt. His demise occurred Friday, Aug. 25th, at noon, after an illness of but few days. He was 81 years, 1 month and 20 days old.
Three sons and one daughter had predeceased him in death. Three daughter remain to mourn his departure, they are Mrs. Herman Affeldt, Mrs. John Ortman, both of Centreville, and Mrs. Henry Jonas of Doon, Ont. He also leaves nineteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The funeral services will be held tomorrow. (Sunday) afternoon at 1.30 o'clock from his late home in Centreville to the, church in Freeport, with interment in Riverside Cemetery at Freeport. Pastor Oberlander, of St. Peter's Ev. Luth. Church, will officiate.

DEATH OF MR. JOHN SCHWASS
An old and well-known resident of Centreville pased away on Friday in the person of Mr. John Henry Christian Schwass after suffering for few days from summer complaint, The ceased was born in Hinxenbagen, Mecklenberg, Germany on July 5th, 1830, and was in his 82nd year. He emigrated to Canada in 1819 and settled in Centreville where he has been engaged in farming ever since. He was betrothed before coming to this country and in 1852, accompanied by her father, Miss Sophia Tasenow came to Canda was wedded to the deceased by pastor Wuschter, at Preston. The union was blessed with a family of seven children, three of whom survive, namely, Mrs. Henry Affidat, and Mrs. John Ortman of Centreville and Mrs. Henry Joms of Doon. There are also nineteen grandchildren and three great grand children Mrs. Sebwass died in Jure of lest year. The deceased was ode of the charter members of St. Pet er's Lutheran Church. The funeral held on Sunday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock from the residence to the Freeport church for service and the Riverside cemetery for internment. Rev. F. E. Oberlander officiated.
