- POTTER, Robert Owen Passed away peacefully in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 90 years, on March 17, 2010. Husband of the late Carol (Helen) Payne in 1997. Survived by his sister Mary Rouble, nephew George, nieces Barbara Paranyi, Mary Ellen Potter, Janice MacKinnen, Goddaughters Carol Nixon and Barbara (Jim) Lehman and their families. Also survived by Carol's family in England. Predeceased by his infant son Nicholas, his parents William Potter and Effie Owen, brothers William (Melinda), Charles (Virginia) and George (killed in action in World War II) and brother-in-law Alan Rouble. Robert was a proud member of the Highland Light Infantry of Canada with whom he served heroically in World War II, from the D-Day landings until he was wounded at Buron, he served his country with courage and distinction. Special thanks to his caretaker Caron Brown and the Community Hospice, Jacksonville, for all their care and attention. To honour Robert's request, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home Chapel at 1: 00 p.m. with Padre Bernard Hayes officiating, reception to follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre. Interment will be beside his wife in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Poppy Fund or the Alzheimer Society as expressions of sympathy.
