- PICKEN, John "Jack" Alexander - Passed away peacefully, at Forest Heights Long Term Care, Kitchener, on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Jack Picken was in his 90th year. Dear father of Jill and her husband Glenn Allen of Cambridge. Sadly missed by two grandsons and their families and by his many nieces and nephews. Survived by brother, Albert. Predeceased by wives, Elsie and Mabel; daughter, Jan and friend Betty. Jack was born in Hespeler and had worked in law enforcement for many years. He was a veteran of the Second World War, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 229, Elora and of Mercer Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 347 G.R.C., Fergus. The family wish to thank the wonderful caring staff of Forest Heights. At Jack's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. All are welcome for a celebration of his life with family and friends on Saturday, January 10, 2009, in the Kress Room at 237 King Street West, Cambridge (Preston) from 1 to 4 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the Gilchrist Chapel - McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home , One Delhi Street, Guelph (519-824-0031).
