    • EDWARD JOHN LICHTY 1924 - 2009 Passed away peacefully, on January 7, 2009, at the age of 84 years. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Christina (nee Ross) originally from Ross-shire Scotland. Also survived by his son, David (Linda) Lichty, daughters, Glenda Bruce, Anna (Paul) Hopkins, Heather (Bruce) Huehn, Janet (Stephen) Pegg, and Joan (Dan) Peters. Ed will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Fraser (Lynnette), Robert, Vicki, Tyler, Becky (Kris), Joe, Rosalynd, Roxanne, Russell, Laura, Kim and Greg as well as his great-granddaughter Hailie. He was predeceased by his mother, Annie Oetzel in 1924; his father, John Z. Lichty in 1959 and his step-mother, Nellie Shantz in 1972. Ed was a veteran of the Second World War and a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 530. He was an active participant in the K-W Poppy Fund and will be remembered as one who collected pop can tabs and delivered them to the Elora Legion for purchases of wheelchairs. He worked for the Waterloo County Board of Education for over 20 years and was a member of the Waterloo Rod and Gun Club. A private family service was held and cremation will follow. In living memory of Ed, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
