  • Notes
    • FORD, Clarence Roy - Of Kitchener. Peacefully, on Monday, February 2nd, 2009, at Freeport Health Centre, with family by his side. Husband of the late Theresa Ford (1999) and loving father of Jenny (Dave) Williams of Kitchener, Andy (Cheryl) Ford of Orillia and Larry Ford of Kitchener. He was an extra special grandfather and mentor to Chris, Sean and Michael Williams and Riley and Kirsten Ford. Clarence was born in Usborne Township on July 24th, 1922 and served in the RCAF during the Second World War. Upon discharge in 1945, he moved to Kitchener and was employed by Uniroyal until his retirement in 1986. He spent much of his retirement as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to work in his gardens and will be remembered for his kindness of spirit, his dry wit and for his love of the game of baseball - especially the Toronto Blue Jays. He had such a thirst for knowledge - there was always something new to learn. He was a dedicated and devoted husband to his wife during her ill-health and is now by her side where he always was in life. Clarence is survived by his brother, Gordon (Shirley) Ford of Woodham, Ontario. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends, especially Don and Anne Pickett of Kitchener, to mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents, Irene and Harry Ford and sisters, Edna Ford, Ina Baker and Laura Dickey. Clarence is resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home , 621 King St. W., Kitchener. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4th from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home February 5th, 2009 at 11 a.m. Cremation with interment at Parkview cemetery will be held at a later date. In Clarence's memory, donations to the Grand River Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice can be made by contacting the funeral home, 519-745-9495. Share memories of Clarence at www.MeM.com. A special thanks to the staff of Freeport Health Centre, GR3 South, for their care and compassion with our father during his hospital stay. The most beautiful monument that a man can get is the imprint he leaves behind in the hearts of others. - Albert Schweitzer.
