    • MIKEL, Harry Arthur - Went home to be with his beloved Doris, on Wednesday April 8, 2009, at Leisureworld Nursing Home, Elmira in his 89th year. Loving father to Richard (Janet), Karen Scott (Bill), David (Christina) and Keith (Barb). A dear grandpa who will be sadly missed by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Brother to Donald (Hazel) and Ruby Shantz. Predeceased by his wife, Doris (2003); parents, Dora and Martin Mikel; granddaughter, Christine (1997); five sisters and one brother. Harry had served with the Canadian army as an engineer in the Second World War. He was an entrepreneur and a tool and die maker by trade. At Harry's request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 1 p.m. from the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home Chapel , 621 King St. W., Kitchener. Reception to follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Cardiac Care Unit, Lisaard House or the charity of your choice as expressions of sympathy through the funeral home. A special thank you to the staff at Leisureworld for their loving care and compassion over the past eight years.
