- HILKER, William L. "Buster" - Peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2006 at his home in Elmira. William L. "Buster" Hilker, in his 88th year.Beloved husband of the late Mabel (Olinski) Hilker who predeceased him August 22, 1996. Loving father of Dennis and Carol Hilker of Elmira and father-in-law of Mary Lou Hilker of Kitchener and Sharon Hilker of Elmira. Predeceased by two sons, William (2001) and Larry (2001). Fondly remembered by his 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Elsie Hilker of Elmira. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Annie (Frey) Hilker; three brothers and two sisters.Buster was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 469, Elmira. For many years he enjoyed playing horseshoes in numerous leagues and tournaments. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hans Borch officiating, followed by interment in Memory Gardens. In his memory donations to the Legion "Poppy Fund" would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 469, Elmira will assemble for a Legion Service at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6: 30 p.m.
