____________
Two Old Settlers Gone in One Week.
Died, at her home in this city, Tuesday, Feb. 12, 1895, of typhoid pneumonia, Mrs. Eunice L. Smith, relict of Sylvester Smith, aged 64 years. Her maiden name was Rosebrugh. She was born in Brandt county, Ontario, December 18, 1830. She came with her husband to Austin in October, 1855. There were but a very few families here at that time. She adapted herself to the surroundings of pioneer life and lent a hand to every worthy object. She was one of the charter members of the Austin Floral Club and was always interested in its success. Of a retiring disposition, she found especial delight among her books and flowers, spending a great deal of her time in the cultivation of the latter. She was never strong and healthy during her life here. Her husband who was county treasurer for years died in 1877. About a year ago, she was attacked with la-grippe and never recovered from it fully. About ten days ago, this culminated in typhoid pneumonia. She lived in the old home on Water Street until 1884, when she moved into the Ira Jones house on Lansing Avenue. In the fall of 1886, she moved into her new home in the northwest part of the city. She was of the Methodist faith. Funeral services will be held at the house Thursday at 2 p. m. The deceased is remembered by all as one of the worthlest of the Austin pioneers. Her only child survives, Fay R. Smith of this city.
