  Samuel Block, "is married to Catharine Well. They reside near Doon where he is engaged in farming. They have a family of eleven children". Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. _______________ Joseph sold his property (234 Tilt Dr., Kitchener) to Jacob Block on 25 September 1883 (Waterloo Township, Land Record Abstracts, instr. #8976; Eby 1895: 281). The 1891 Census did not enumerate Jacob Block in the sub-district where this property is located, but did enumerate his son there. Samuel Block was 57 years old, and his wife, Cathrine, was 52: they had five children. They were living in a wooden, 1½ storey, 9-room house. Jacob Block died on 3 June 1893, and his executors sold the property to his son, Samuel, on 18 December 1894 (Waterloo Township, Land Record Abstracts, instr.13114). Samuel retained the house and land until 1920.
