    • William J. Dedman Passes


      A well-known former North Dumfries resident William J Dedman passed away at his residence, 10 Westgate Court, Galt, on Tuesday, September 29th. He was in his 87th year Born in Albury, Herts, England, he came to Canada in 1912, settling in the Galt area. Most of his life was spent on the Alps Road, RR 4, Galt. He moved into the city in 1977. A carpenter by trade, he had worked for Hipel Construction in Preston, Babcock & Wilcox in Galt, and prior to retiring Peter Flay Knife Co. in Galt. Mr. Dedman and his wife, the former Isabel Rae, for many years operated food concession booths in Galt parks and Riverside Park, Preston. At one time they also operated the booth at Ayr Arena. For many years they had the RR 7, Galt dater RR 4 mail route. Mr. and Mrs. Dedman observed their 62nd wedding anniversary in June. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters Lillian (Mrs. Joseph Reain), Gladys (Mrs. George Spencer) and Leone (Mrs. Charles Rife), all of Cambridge. Dear brother of Frank of Calgary, Reginald of Ayr, Mrs. Elsie Sharp of Toronto, Muriel (Mrs. Edward Leslie) of Cambridge. Also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral and committal services were held from the Coutts and Son Funeral Home, Galt, on Thursday. Interment in Mount View Cemetery.
