    • Death of Mr. Jared Swan - Mr. Jared Swan, long a resident of Dumfries, close to Galt, died on Sunday night last. Mr. Swan came to Dumfries in the year 1832. He was born in Roxboroughshire, Scotland, and was married before he emigrated. At the time of his death he was aged 80 years and 9 months. He was a man very much respected, and his body was followed to the grave by a very large number of friends and acquaintances. One singular coincidence in connection with this death is that while in Scotland he and the late Mr. Jas. Clarke, of Dumfries, were married and lived in the same house. They emigrated to Canada with their wives and families, and now lie in graves side by side in Galt Cemetery.
