- SCHUTZ, Cyril (Jakie) - Peacefully, at Conestoga Lodge Retirement Home, Kitchener, on Saturday, April 6, 1991, Cyril Urbin Schutz, of Elmira, in his 86th year.
Mr. Schutz was born in Floradale, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schutz. He was predeceased by his brother, Heward and sister, Mrs. Helen Boys. Cyril was first married to Alice Borman who predeceased him in 1947. His second marriage was to Eleanor Wittich who predeceased him in May 1986.
Cyril is survived by his in laws, Julia Wittich and Pauline and LaVerne Wittich as well as many nieces nephews.
Cyril was a member of Elmira's 1923-1924 Championship Junior Hockey team. He was a volunteer with the Elmira Fire Brigade for many years; a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elmira, where Cyril and Eleanor enjoyed their volunteer work with St. Paul's Lutheran Church Braille Workers. He retired from the Link Foundry as maintenance foreman after 27 Belt years of service. In retirement Cyril was Mr. Fixit for his friends and relatives.
Friends and relatives may call at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, today (Monday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Tuesday, transfer will be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elmira, for funeral service at 2 p.m., with Rev. Richard Frey officiating, followed by interment in Elmira Union cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Lutheran Braille Workers or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, as expressions of sympathy.
