Notes |
- Mary Eileen Harrison (Wagler), passed away at 11:00 a.m. Monday,May 2, 2022 in her 85th year. She was a resident of Nithview Long Term Care Home for over 6 years although she suffered for many years from dementia, while being cared for at home. Thankfully, she is now at peace and no longer being ravaged by this disease.
Mary leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Norman, of over 63 years, who was by her side daily throughout her prolonged illness. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Christine (Jim), Robb (Maria), Mark (Danny), grandchildren Amy, Shannon (Phil), Dana (Mary-Catherine), Faith, Nik (Tat), Kristi (Zach) and great grandchildren, Rilyn, Paige and Clarke. She is predeceased by brothers Delton (Mary), Laverne (Sonya) and Delford (Evelyn). Mary is survived and will be missed by Milton, Ray, Harvey, Ervin, Ruth (Jim) and Ed (Sue) and her many nieces, nephews and their children.
Mary lived a life of love, surrounded by family, friends and community. She was a Brownie Leader for years, volunteered at Planned Parenthood and held various jobs, including that of a school bus driver. Despite having only an eighth grade education, Mary put herself through college to become a social worker and began working at St. Monica House. Later she obtained a second certificate in gerontology and began working at RAISE Home Support (later called Community Support Connections), where she retired at age 62. She will always be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her as kind, compassionate and caring.
Mary's family would like to thank the staff at Nithview Home for their care and support these past years. Many thanks to those who took Mary, and the whole family, under their wings during her illness and passing. As well, there were a number of private PSWs who cared for Mary, and the family is especially grateful for the compassion and love shown by Mary-Catharine, Margot and Simijit.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home, on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow with a private graveside service at the Union Cemetery, New Dundee.
