- GILFILLAN, WILLIAM
Another old and much respected resident of Puslinch, on Tuesday, October 30th 1888, at the old homestead on the 1st concession, after two weeks illness, at the age of 68. He was a native of Stirlingshire, Scotland, who emigrated in the year 1843 and made Puslinch his home. He worked at his trade as carpenter, for some time at the new Court House in Guelph and also worked for several years for the late Mr. Crombie of Galt and helped to put up several mills in the country. He was much respected by his neighbours and all who knew him and was an active and intelligent farmer. He always took a lively interest in public affairs and was an active and consistent Reformer all his life. Survived by his widow, one son and eight daughters, six of whom are married, namely, Mrs. King of California; Mrs. Reeves of Nebraska; Mrs. Tucker of Paris; Mrs. C. Tilk of Beverley; Mrs. J. Tilk of Galt; and Mrs. Singular of Aberfoyle. His son and two younger daughters are at home.

-Information from Knox Presbyterian Church, Crieff, 1840-1990 by Anna Jackson: Lived on lot 24, rear of the 1st concession. Children were Helen (1855); Mary (1857, Mrs. King); John (1859); Janet (1861); Margaret (1862); Susan (1870); Jane (1874); William of Princeton; Isabella; and Ellen, who was a maid at Andrew McLean's manse before her marriage to L. Singular of Guelph. Margaret married George Tucker and two of their children, Bertha Jane (1889) and Septimus (1890) were born in the community.
