      Probe Fire In Bedroom

STRATFORD - Julius Pommer, 69, who suffered extensive burns when his bed caught fire June 21, died last night in Stratford General Hospital. Mr. Pommer, lifelong resident of this area, was found unconscious in his attic room bed after neighbors saw smoke pouring from a window. He rented a room at the residence of Samuel Smith, 32 Nelson St.

      FOUND UNCONSCIOUS

Mr. Smith and other residents of the house were unaware of the fire until advised by neighbors. Fire department inhalator equipment was used in an effort to revive him, before medical aid reached the fire scene, after fire fighters found him unconscious.

Actual property damage in the fire was not extensive. A mattress was destroyed and a wooden bed badly scorched. The fire was confined to the immediate area of the bed.

Coroner Dr. David Gemmell said last night that decision about an inquest would probably not be announced until he had had an opportunity for a full investigation.
