William (Bill) A. Freeman, 89, of Plainfield, IL formerly of Elmira, Canada and Ottawa, IL passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Waverly Inn Memory Care Center in Arlington Heights.
Due to the global pandemic, funeral services will be private. Arrangements are through Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights.
Bill was born January 17, 1931 in Elmira, Canada to Wilmer and Geneva (Stricker) Freeman. Beloved husband of the late Rosalie (Gallagher) Freeman (May 10, 2020). Beloved father of his two sons: John (Wendy) Freeman of Rolling Meadows, IL, and Jim (Carisa) Freeman of Antioch, IL. and two daughters: Leslie (Mark) O'Connell of Hayward, WI, and Barb (Dave) Webb of Arlington Heights, IL. Lovingly remembered by Rosalie's children: Bill (Kathy) Strong, and Steve (Judy) Strong, both of Ottawa, IL, and Mark (Christine) Strong of Aurora, IL, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Alma Pufall and Laurene Boyle, and one brother Donald Freeman.
Bill grew up on a farm during the Depression and worked to earn a veterinary degree where he eventually started his career in Indiana. He continued his career in Ottawa, IL and eventually obtained his own practice in Bensenville, IL where he worked at until his retirement after more than 40 years in the business. Bill adored his wife Rosalie and they enjoyed having people over for company and hanging out with their neighbors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grand kids. Bill loved playing games such as Billiards, Bridge, Cribbage, 31, Backgammon, ..and pretty much any card game where money was to be had. He traveled to many places in the world and always had a great story to tell. Bill had a gift being able to connect with people and left an impression on everyone he met. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
