    • Golden Wedding - A very pleasant event occurred in Galt on Friday evening last, when the relatives and friends of Mr. James L. Scott assembled at his residence to celebrate his "golden wedding," that evening being the 50th anniversary of the marriage of himself and his estimable wife. Of their children there were present Mrs. Maxwell, of Wingham; Mrs. Robert Webster, of Galt; Mr. Robt. Scott, of North Dumfries; Mrs. James Moffatt, of North Dumfries; the only living member of the family absent being Mr. James L. Scott, of Marquette, Lake superior. Amongst others of the near relatives present was Mrs. John Scott, widow of our old townsman, Mr. John Scott, now of Phoenix, Lake Superior. There were also present twenty-three grandchildren. The matter was a complete surprise to the worthy couple, the arrangements having been completed entirely without their knowledge. As one after another dropped in their surprise became complete, especially as all arrangements for the entertainment of the guests were forthcoming with the guests themselves. Rev. J. K. smith and Mrs. Smith were amongst those present. The presents received by Mr. and Mrs. Scott were very valuable and suitable for the occasion and included amongst many others a valuable gold watch for Mrs. Scott and a quantity of gold coin. The evening was spent most pleasantly and all united in heartily congratulating Mr. and Mrs. Scott on the happy occasion they were celebrating.
