  • Notes
    • Sad occurrence was the death of Mr. Henry Weidenhammer, which took place at his father's house, a short distance east of Elmira. Mr. Weidenhammer has, for a number of years, been living in Nebraska, and had taken a trip to this part of the country for the double purpose of paying a visit to his parents and friends, and, if possible to benefit his health, which had been on the decline for a number of months.

Shortly after his arrival, symptoms of chronic disease from which he was suffering, became worse, and it was soon evident that his condition was very serious. He still entertained hopes of returning to his wife and family in Nebraska, but death overtook him before this could be accomplished. Instead of welcoming father and husband, his family received a cold message of his death. He died last Friday night. A short funeral service was held by the Reverend Mr. Schultz last Monday at noon, and the remains of the dead for taking to the G. T. R. Station, followed by a large concourse of friends. Mr. Andrew Weidenhammer, rother of the deceased accompanied the corpse to Nebraska. The sad affair elicited a great deal of sympathy from the people of this section, where Mr Weidenhammer spent his early years of manhood, much respected by all. He had reached the age of 45 years, and leaves a wife and six children.
