- Funeral services will be held at the Union Congressional Church Friday for D. F Burkholder, 91, early prominent pioneer of South Dakota. Burial will be at Chamberlain. The deceased served as a receiver of the United States Land Office at Gregory, receiving the appointment in 1910. Previous to that he had published the Chamberlain democrat. A prominent Democrat he was a member of the State Legislature in 1896 and during Woodrow Wilson's campaign, had charge of the Democratic state headquarters in Yankton. Burkholder also served as Gregory's city auditor for more than 20 years.
