- STEVER, Clarence Orval Passed away peacefully Friday, January 20, 2017, at his residence Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Clarence was born in Linwood, Ontario 86 years ago and was the son of the late Moses and Freida Stever (Hahn). Beloved husband of the late Virginia Stever (Deichert). Loving father of Carolyn Stever and Jennifer Troupe (Bill). Cherished grandfather of Amanda, Jayden and Ethan Troupe. Dear brother of Merlene Cerniuk (Frank), Irene Irving (Bill) and brother-in-law to Eveyln Stever, Muriel Stever, Marlene Deichert, Doris Hamilton, Alice Deichert. Predeceased by his sisters Norma Cook (Gordon), Luella Schenk (Alfred), Bernice Kniesel (Wilfred), Margaret Newhauser (Warren), brothers Fred, Clayton, Wilmer and Murray Stever, brothers-in-law Bert, Lloyd, Harold, Glen and Fred Deichert, sisters-in-law Vera Hohner (Clarence), Rose Merner (Jack), Almeida Keller. Clarence will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Clarence grew up on a farm and worked hard alongside his family. At 14 he was a Farm Service Force volunteer contributing to the food production for the war effort. Clarence graduated from Elmira High School, worked for Mutual Life of Canada, BF Goodrich and was the proud owner of the Western Tire Store in New Hamburg for 15 years. He was a member of the New Hamburg Board of Trade and served as a council member at Trinity Lutheran Church. Special thank you to the staff at Nithview for lovingly caring for Dad and our family. As per Clarences' wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 23 Church Street, New Hamburg on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Larson officiating. A reception will follow. Donations would be greatly appreciated to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and Trinity Lutheran Church.
