Passed away, peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on January 26, 2006, at the age of 87 years.
Beloved husband of more than 66 years to Florence. Special father-in-law of Darlene Burgetz. Cherished grandfather of Cathie (Darryl) McClennan, Dan (Kelly) Burgetz and Jim (Michelle) Burgetz. Proud great-grandfather of Sarah and Michael McClennan and Kaela, Jayden and Joshua Burgetz. Survived by his sisters-in-law Loretta and Luella Burgetz and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his son Allan Roy Burgetz, his parents Allan and Julia Burgetz, brothers Lloyd, Harry, John and Gordon and sisters Laura, Lillian, Irene, and Alta, Violet and Edna.
Roy served as a gunner in the Royal Canadian Air Force during service in the Second World War and went on to own and operate several businesses, including Complete Rentals in the K-W and Guelph areas.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Roy with his family during visitation at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo today (Friday, January 27, 2006) from 204 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue beginning at 10 a.m. at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church on Saturday, January 28, 2006 with the service to celebrate Roy's life and faith to follow at 11 a.m. the Pastor Kevin Peters Unrau as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. Following the committal service, friends are invited to join the family back at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church for refreshments and a time to visit.
