  A-1-139 William Hume Probate of the Will of William Hume of the Township of North Dumfries, labourer, deceased, on the petition of Duncan Ferguson, the Executor named in said Will… I, William Hume of the Township of North Dumfries, late a farm servant in Roxboroughshire, Scotland, of the age of Sixty-three years and being of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my Last Will and Testament… My Will is that my funeral charges and just debts shall be paid by my Executors herein after named, the residue of my estate and property which shall not be required for the payment of my just debts funeral charges and the expenses attending the Execution of this my Will and the administration of my estate, I give, devise and dispose thereof, as follows… I give and bequeath all my personal estate goods and chattels of every description nature or kind so ever to my trusty and well beloved friend Walter Brown, a minor about the age of eight years now living in Galt on account of the regard I entertain for his mother, my niece, and I do hereby appoint Mr Duncan Ferguson, Farmer, Dumfries, sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament.
