Nonagenarian Succumbs. Ephraim Hewitt Passes Away After Illness of Five Weeks.
Ephraim Hewitt passed at the age of 95 years having been ill of senile decline for the past five weeks. Mr Hewitt was born in Toronto, Canada, Feb 15, 1819. He married in 1836 to Miss Jane Wright. They moved to Mazomainie in the early 1860s and later came to Baraboo. Mr Hewitt resided on a farm in Fairfield Township for a number of years, but has made his home with his daughter, Mrs Mary Whistance, who resides east if the city hotel , for 20 years.
Mrs. Hewitt died in 1899.
Of the ten children born to Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt the following survive; Ephraim Hewitt, Arkansas; Daniel Hewitt, Wildona, Colo; Arthur Hewitt, Baraboo; Frank Hewitt, Fairfield; Mrs George Fuller (Belle Hewitt)MInnestoa; Mrs Mary Whistance,Baraboo; and James Hewitt. who's whereabouts are unknown. Mr. Hewitt was a life long member of the Methodist Church. Up to a short time before his death he had the use of all his faciulties, his eye sight being well preserved.
