- David B. Kraemer, 78, of Stratton, Ont., passed on to his eternal reward on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his home where he resided with his daughter, Miriam, and family. He was born Nov. 2, 1933, in St. Jacobs, Ont. to the late Israel and Magdalena Kraemer. On March 9, 1955, he was united in marriage to Anna Brubacher. The Lord blessed them with 57 years together and a family of two sons and two daughters. In June, 1965, they moved to Deer Lake, Ont., where they were involved in working among the aboriginal peoples. In June, 1967, they moved to Rainy River District, where they resided for the next 23 years.
In September, 1990, they moved to Keenes, Ill. Beginning in 2005, they came back to Rainy River District for the summer, until they moved permanently to Stratton in April, 2010 due to failing health. Fondly remembered by his beloved wife, Anna, and their children, Raymond and wife, Doris, of Keenes, Ill., Eva (Mrs. Larry Steiner) of Barwick, Ont., Miriam (Mrs. Melvin Heatwole) of Stratton, Ont., and Andrew and wife, Lois, of Sullivan, Ill. He also is lovingly remembered by his 11 grandsons, 11 granddaughters, and 26 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by two sisters and one brother, Almeda, wife of the late Christian Martin, of St. Clements, Ont., Adeline (Mrs. Emmanuel Bauman) of St. Jacobs, Ont., and Osiah of Regina, Sask.; and one sister-in-law, Almeda (Elam) (Mrs. Leonard Martin). He was predeceased by one brother, Elam; one sister, Lovina (Milton) Frey; two brothers-in-law, Milton Frey and Christian E. Martin; and one grandson, Gary Kraemer.
In his youth, David accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and was baptized into the Mennonite Church. At the time of his death, he was a faithful member and beloved brother of the Pineview Mennonite Church. Visitation was held Monday, May 7, 2012 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Pineview Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 1: 30 p.m. at the Barwick Community Hall. Interment in the Pineview Mennonite Cemetery.
