- MOORE, John Douglas - Passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in his 85th year after a very brief illness at Cambridge Memorial Hospital with family at his side. John D. lived his entire life in North Dumfries Township and farmed until he was 79 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Helen Mary (Fyfe) Moore (1994). Dear father of George F. Moore and his wife Carmen Bermudez and their children Joanne, Candice and Helen of Beausejour, Manitoba. Grandson, Matthew and his wife Gemma Moore and their children Mackenzie and Elijah of Kincardine. Daughters, Mary E. Young of Cambridge and her children Duncan and fiancée Kate Barltrop of Ottawa and Alicia of Cambridge, Laura L. Wilford and her husband Tim and their children William and Elizabeth, all of Cambridge. Dear brother of Elizabeth Thompson of Belmont, Evelyn Campbell of Niagara on the Lake and brother-in-law of Ruby George of London. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, George P. and Nettie (Carrick) Moore; his brother, Donald; sister, Roberta Herdman; grandson, Mark Moore; brothers-in-law, Gordon Herdman, Robinson Thompson and Nelson Campbell. John D. was a graduate of the Ontario Agricultural College (1948). Lifelong member of Central Presbyterian Church and the North Dumfries Farmers Club (N. Dumfries Community Club). A clock and bell collector, and "Avid Auction Sale Connoisseur". During his lifetime he took an active role in his farming community being involved in the South Waterloo Agricultural Society (Cambridge Fall Fair), Waterloo Crop Improvement Assoc., Waterloo Co-op Medical Services, Ayr District Co-operative and Church Elder. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 1: 30 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 7 Queens Square, Cambridge. Visitation will be held at the church from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Interment at Cedar Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Central Presbyterian Church Roof Fund, Cambridge Memorial Hospital or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
